eLogic Leads SAP CWG Proposal Generation Influence Group

In late 2005, the SAP Configurator Work Group (CWG) formed the Proposal Generation Influence Group to address a common need among manufacturers of complex equipment for robust, customer worthy proposals, which could be generated directly from SAP using core application functionality. The objective of the group is to define the business requirements and influence the development of future SAP functionality. The group is comprised of approximately a dozen CWG member companies, including representation and support from SAP. eLogic was chosen to lead the group because of their extensive knowledge and experience from developing numerous custom proposal generation applications.

Once the group's roles and responsibilities were established, they began the work of capture the business requirements. Each member provided individual input on proposal generation needs, including information on past and present business processes. Topics such as Cover Letters, Product Specifications, Pricing, Term and Conditions, document formatting and others have been addressed. These inputs have been compiled into a master Proposal Requirements document and distributed to the group for review and approval. The document will be the cornerstone used for building a business case for the development of a commercial solution for Proposal Generation.

Once approved, the document will be presented to SAP for their consideration of developing the functionality to support these requirements within their core application.
